Rice traders, which are dealing with the Singaporean Bank, are now resuming rice exports amid speculations that they will curb exports being irked by the transaction with the Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank, MFTB, and an official with the Ministry of Commerce who is overseeing rice exports.

Companies holding license for rice export reported to the Ministry of Commerce that they would cease rice export due to difficulties in transferring cash to MFTB through the Singapore Bank. However, later, they informed again, that they were to resume exporting as usual overcoming difficulties with the MFTB, the official said.

Latest news(up to March 13) from the Ministry of Commerce say, 24 local companies which have obtained permit to export a total of 400,000 tonnes of rice, have already exported 150,000 tonnes of rice.
